SINGING TIME ACTIVITY. “COME, FOLLOW ME” song visuals. Youth learn to follow the Savior as they sing “Not only shall we emulate His course while in this earthly state, But when we’re freed from present cares, If with our Lord we would be heirs.” This song illustrates that we can be part of God’s kingdom if we learn to follow in His steps and “Obey his words, ‘Come, follow me.'”

FOUR WAYS TO GRAB SONG VISUALS AND SINGING
LYRICS:
NOTE: Only verses 1-4 are illustrated in this pdf
Verse 1:
“Come, follow me,” the Savior said.
Then let us in his footsteps tread,
For thus alone can we be one
With God’s own loved, begotten Son.
Verse 2:
“Come, follow me,” a simple phrase,
Yet truth’s sublime, effulgent rays
Are in these simple words combined
To urge, inspire the human mind.
Verse 3:
Is it enough alone to know
That we must follow him below,
While trav’ling thru this vale of tears?
No, this extends to holier spheres.
Verse 4:
Not only shall we emulate
His course while in this earthly state,
But when we’re freed from present cares,
If with our Lord we would be heirs.
For thrones, dominions, kingdoms, pow’rs,
And glory great and bliss are ours,
If we, throughout eternity,
Obey his words, “Come, follow me.”
IDEAS TO PRESENT THIS SONG:
1. Play the game follow the leader using some of the things we do to follow Jesus. Have children think of ways we can follow him and act them out having the other children act out the same actions. The first team to guess what they are doing to follow Jesus earns a point. Divide into teams to play for the most points. Example: Form a heart with fingers to represent love others. Walk with large steps to represent follow teachings of Jesus.
2. Ask children what they look forward to the most when they one day can live with Heavenly Father and Jesus again. Talk about what we must do to live with them again. You could ask certain children to draw pictures ahead of time to show and tell what they look forward to, e.g. be with our families forever.

And just so you know- teaching “Come Follow Me” went SO smoothly. The kids learned the first 2 verses in just a few minutes and I can’t wait to teach them the rest next week. We’re going to do all 6 verses- something I wasn’t willing to do before printing off your teaching helps. THANKS AGAIN
Again Jaime. You are doing great with the children. Singing creates good memories in Primary. They will remember you and the visuals needed to make a visual impression of each song. Good work.
