LESSON LIFESAVER ACTIVITY. STANDARD WORKS Thinkathon Game  Words of the prophets who testify of Jesus Christ are written in these four books of scripture known as the Standard Works of the Church. This game will get youth thinking about which book covers what topic and is fun to play in teams. It’s kind of like a scripture scramble of topics to decide which book covers these topics. For example, The Doctrine and Covenants is a “collection of revelations from Jesus Christ for the latter day, our times.”

  1. Divide players into two teams and have one team member at a time represent each team.
  2. Team members take turns drawing a question, handing it to the leader to read (as it has the answer written on the word-strip).
  3. The leader reads the question and the player guesses the Standard Work: Either the Bible, Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, or Doctrine and Covenants. If they don’t guess the right book within 5 seconds, the other team has 5 seconds to guess.
  4. Once a correct answer is given they receive a point.
  5. Another point can be earned if they roll the die and the Standard Work that matches their answer lands on top.
  6. If they roll “BONUS POINT” they receive two points.
  7. If they roll “ROLL AGAIN,” they get another roll to win a point.
  8. Then, it is the other team’s turn.
  9. When time is up, or all scriptures are drawn, the team with the most points wins!
