ACTIVITY DAYS PLANNER

I’m “Sew” Happy (sew a scripture cover).
MAKE A SCRIPTURE COVER: Sew a scripture cover to enclose a less expensive copy of the Book of Mormon that you can carry with you to camp, school, or on a trip. Then you can leave your more expensive book safe at home.

1. Print the instructions and patterns to sew the scripture cover. You’ll need a standard Book of Mormon and a 9″-by-23″ quilted fabric scrap.
2. To make cover, adjust pattern for larger or smaller books. You can hand-stitch this or use a machine. Simply follow the instructions on the pattern sheets, make the handle, and sew on Velcro or add a snap to close.
BOOK OF MORMON PROJECT: If you are giving away copies of the Book of Mormon to friends, make a scripture cover in their favorite color. Be sure to include your testimony and picture.

THOUGHT TREAT (Sewing Sweets).
Idea 1: Sewing Needle Cookies. Cut out large needle shapes from sugar cookie dough, punching the “thread hole” with a tiny bottle lid. Bake cookies, then thread licorice string through holes. Make extras to take home. Idea 2: Pincushion Cupcakes. Frost cupcakes. Then place three or four colored toothpicks on top with small gumdrops (cut in half) or jelly beans stuck on top of the toothpicks (to look like pins).
Idea 3: Button Cookies. Frost round cookies on top with a cake decorator tube, making a circle around the edge of cookie, and four dots in the center (to look like buttonholes). Frost an X-shape joining the four dots (to look like thread).
