Heaven’s Gate to Strait & Narrow Path baptismal covenants reminder
OBJECTIVE: The lesson helps youth want to keep their baptismal covenants. Review the enrichment activity 4 (p. 20) in the manual for which the following activity illustrates (see lesson ideas below*)
ACTIVITY: Remind the youth that they are heaven-sent-and-heaven-bound. We came from heaven and if we are to return we must enter the gate of “repentance and baptism by water,” receiving the Holy Ghost (read 2 Nephi 31:17). If we follow the strait and narrow path, relying on Jesus Christ to guide us (2 Nephi 31:18–19), and stay on this path and endure to the end, we will return to Heavenly Father, having eternal life. Help children memorize 2 Nephi 31:20.
TO MAKE:
1. Print/color and cut out the Heaven’s Gate for each youth.
2. Glue the baptism gate on the right side of the path where indicated, and fold the gate backward to swing open.
Optional Latch for Gate: Insert metal brad. Pierce a hole at the top left of the gatepost with a metal brad. Insert the brad with the round part of the brad on the back of the gatepost and the two prongs in the front. Bend prongs and turn prongs toward the gate to lock the gate, or turn away from the gate to open the gate.
THOUGHT TREAT: Graham cracker gate. Frost two half-size graham crackers on top of each other. Talk about the words found on the gate activity (above).
SCRIPTURE CARDS: Help the youth Search and Ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. PRINT this 5 x 7 scripture card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.
