Word of Wisdom Blossom Blessings plant signs

1. Print, color, and cut out the Word of Wisdom Blossom Blessings Healthy Flower Pot decorations. You’ll need a healthy plant or flower in a pot.
2. Glue the four Word of Wisdom Blossom Blessing cards on wooden craft sticks and place them in the soil of a plant or flower pot.
3. Review the blessings that come from keeping the Word of Wisdom found on the flowers.
4. Water and care for this plant thinking about the Word of Wisdom each day. Imagine how the plant would wilt and die if it were not fed properly or if you watered it with alcohol or caffeinated drinks.
5. As you give it sunshine and water and watch it grow, nurture your own body and keep the Word of Wisdom by getting the proper nutrition, sleep, exercise, and water and avoiding harmful substances.

THOUGHT TREAT: (Run and Not Be Weary Sprouts). Share with the youth some bean sprouts or Alfalfa sprouts. These are great on a pita bread with cream cheese; then top with sprouts. Thought: We can grow or sprout up or get healthier as we keep the Word of Wisdom. We can “And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint” (D&C 89:20). Also read Proverbs 24:10 (we should be strong physically and spiritually so we will not falter in “time of trouble”).

Learning & Living Goal 7 (Part 2 of 2):
Help plan and conduct an activity to teach the Word of Wisdom to others.

4. Play for 15 minutes and add up points to determine the winning team.
5. Share a healthy treat, giving two treats each to the winning team.

THOUGHT TREAT: (Healthy Snacks). Have the youth bring their favorite healthy snack to share. Or provide healthy snacks, e.g., a slice of whole-grain bread with peanut butter or butter and honey, fruit, vegetables, granola bars. Option: Vegetables, e.g., radishes, carrots, or celery can be cut into flower and leaf shapes to remind youth to blossom and grow.
