AGES 1-5 ACTIVITY. I CAN FORGIVE OTHERS! poster or coloring page. Children can learn the story of how Joseph who was sold into Egypt, forgave his brothers for selling him as a slave. Joseph was made in charge of the grain that fed the people in a famine. When his brothers came to get the grain, he forgave them. We can forgive others. The HOME ACTIVITY tells them to forgive when someone hurts them.

OBJECTIVE: Encourage children to be forgiving.
POSTER ACTIVITY – I can forgive others!
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “I can forgive others!”
• Tell the story of Joseph, who forgave his brothers (in the lesson) and say, “Heavenly Father wants me to forgive others, like Joseph who forgave his brothers and Jesus who forgave others.” See PUPPET SHOW activity (click HERE).
• Talk to children about playing with their friends, asking, “Have your friends ever done something to you that made you frown? What was it? Did you forgive them? What if you did something that hurt them and you say sorry. Wouldn’t you want them to forgive you?”
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Help me see that when I am hurt, I can be forgiving. Tell me stories of Jesus and how He taught us to forgive one another.”
THOUGHT TREAT: Hurt frown and happy smile cookie. Frost a cookie with a smile on the top half and a frown on the bottom half, with eyes in the center so you can turn it around to change expression. Turn it as you talk about happy feelings that come when we forgive others and sad feelings that come when we don’t. Sing “Smiles,” using cookies as a visual.
