TO FIND LESSON: Present Lesson 46 – Primary 5 Manual – Doctrine and Covenants-Church History: Strengthening Our Testimonies of the Restored Gospel
OBJECTIVE: To strengthen the children’s testimonies that Jesus Christ restored his true church through the Prophet Joseph Smith and that Jesus Christ directs the Church today.
LESSON-MATCH ACTIVITY: Review the enrichment activity 2 in the manual for which the following activity illustrates.
ACTIVITY: Testimony Word Race
Race to find words that branch off from the word TESTIMONY.
1. Divide youth into two teams with players sitting on chairs back to back.
2. Each player has a pencil and the TESTIMONY WORD RACE! chart in hand. Then begin.
3. Use the letters in TESTIMONY to inspire other words that connect. Words can be written in any direction–left, right, up, down, or diagonal.
4. Once a word is written, other words can branch off the words written. All words must be words that are part of the gospel of Jesus Christ, words that help strengthen testimony.
5. Youth, if in competition playing in teams can earn 10 points for every word that branches off from the word TESTIMONY.
6. Youth can earn 1 point for all words written after the first word that branches off the word TESTIMONY.
TO MAKE: Print or copy and color the Testimony Word Race for each youth.
THOUGHT TREAT (when appropriate): TESTIMONY Treats Give each youth food that begins with letters in TESTIMONY, i.e.: taffy, egg, saltine cracker, toast, icing, melon, orange, nuts, yogurt.
