LESSON OR SINGING TIME. OUT OF THIS WORLD space & spaceship meter. Use these planets as a righteous meter to think that God’s ways are higher than our ways and we can learn about them and rise up to be like Jesus. Also, use visuals as a singing meter to place practice songs on rockets and move from planet to planet depending on how well they sing.

LESSON IDEAS (see the top of page)

DESCRIPTION: Fun activity to help children choose the next song to sing! Comes with a selection of songs that correlate with the illustrations or choose your own.

With planets to soar to, children can be motivated to sing the songs better and better to reach higher and higher—from “Slightly Shining” to “Pretty Polished” to “Heavenly Harmony” to “Out of this World!” With rockets children can pick practice songs and their favorites to sing.

To Make:
1. Print, color, and cut out the planets/large star and rockets.
2. Write practice songs on the rockets.
3. Laminate an entire poster to place planets on, or display on the wall or chalkboard.
4. Laminate images and cut out, placing double-stick tape on the back to mount on the poster.
NOTE: If you plan on changing the practice songs you can laminate rockets plain and tape wordstrips on the backs with song titles (with page numbers).

To Use:
Step 1: PLANET SINGING METER – Tell children this is a singing meter to help you want to sing as good as you can and to reach as high as you can on the chart; the better you sing, the higher your rocket goes on the chart. Let’s show Heavenly Father how good we can sing and send our singing voices high. Talk about the different stages of singing quality as shown to the right.

Step 2: ROCKET PICK-A-SONG – Have children take turns choosing a rocket song, and then have children sing. You can do this in teams to compete to see which side of the room sings the best.
Step 3: PLACEMENT OF ROCKET by PLANET SINGING METERS – Then teachers can vote on where to place the rocket once the song is complete. It can go on “Slightly Shining,” “Pretty Polished,” “Heavenly Harmony,” or “Out of this World!” Next time children will be motivated to sing better to reach higher.
