ACTIVITY DAYS PLANNER

Apple-a-Day (learn healthy eating habits)
1. Apple Benefits. Bite into a cold, crisp, delicious apple (with skin on) as you ponder the following: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” This saying tells us the importance of eating fruit every day. Apples have natural sugar that gives you a burst of energy. An apple is the ideal snack since it’s 85% water. Apples help prevent heart disease. An apple is called “nature’s toothbrush” because it cleans teeth and massages the gums. An apple calms the nerves, aids digestion, and removes toxins.
2. Print a copy of the three-day food journal (My Apple-a-Day the Healthy Way. For three days, record your food intake for  breakfast, lunch, and dinner, balancing what you eat by checking lines next to the food (based on the Food Guide Pyramid). Get plenty of water, checking off two glasses morning, noon, afternoon, and night. Exercise daily for at least 20 minutes, recording your activities.

Megavitamin Match Game:
1. Print two copies of the Megavitamin Match Game cards. Color, cut out, mount on cardstock, and cut out again. Vitamins help nourish our body. The letters on the cards tell us which parts of our body vitamins nourish:  S = Skin, H = Hair, E = Eyes, N = Nails, B = Bones, and Blood = Blood.
2. To play, divide group into two teams, which sit across from each other. Place vitamin-rich food cards face-up in front of both teams. Explain that when the leader yells out a vitamin, e.g., Vitamin A, the first team to grab two matching cards (representing foods that contain that vitamin) wins a point. The first team to earn 21 points wins! Option: If leader calls out: “skin,” “hair, “eyes,” “nails,” “bones,” or “blood,” grab two matching cards that contain the appropriate letter.

THOUGHT TREAT (Apple). Have a variety of healthy apple treats, e.g., dried apples, apples with peanut butter or cream cheese, applesauce, apple juice, an apple with a sign: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

I love your ideas but it says to print off your three-day food journal and there is also a game. Are they available to print off or where do I get them?

    Thanks
    Teresa
