Invitations. Ahead of time have girls pick out a Fashion Look Card (detailed below) to describe the look they will model for the fashion show. Print and fill out an invitation for each mother-daughter team and write on the invitation the due date for their fashion script. Have girls deliver invitations to their moms.

To Make Invitation: Fold the hat and glue back-to-back 1/4″ only on the sides, bottom, and top, leaving the center open. Glue the Fashion Look Card on the bottom of the flower tab and insert it into the hat brim.

Narrator Scripts.
Fashion Show: Have the narrator gather scripts from mothers and daughters regarding their fashion looks, and make up the program to include a script for each fashion scene. Print the program ahead of time, listing the order of the participants and their fashion looks.
Spotlight: Gather an interesting tidbit of information about each girl ahead of time for the Dinner Spotlight Who’s Who (see details below).

Supplies. You’ll need table decorations, a microphone, baked and frosted sugar cookies, and menu items (see details below).

Table Decorations. Set up tables near the stage. You will need a microphone on the stage for the narrator. Decorate the center of tables with Fashion Look Cards (below), delegating decoration to girls.

Cut Out Sugar Cookies. Roll out sugar cookie dough and cut into clothing shapes using the patterns, one set for each mother and daughter: T-shirt, pants, skirt, vest, hat. Provide a variety of colors of frosting, decorator candies, wooden craft sticks or knives to frost with, and paper plates to hold the finished cookies. Decorate cookies during the party (see Fashion Cookie Decorating that follows).

Party Time Activities

Door Greeting. As guests arrive, give them a card and pencil, asking them to write down their name and something about them that no one else knows. Have them take the cards to their tables, then collect them as you serve the guests their dinner. Place the cards in a container to draw from. Example: “I ate a live grasshopper when I was a toddler.” (See Spotlight Who’s Who below).

Meal. Serve menu items (ideas below) to guests, who sit around their chosen decorated table.

Dinner Spotlight Who’s Who. As the guests eat, have someone come up and draw the cards from the container and read them aloud, but not reveal the person’s name. Have others guess who it might be; then have that person stand up and give more details about their experience. Example (tidbit of information), “My Aunt Mary said she saw me eating a grasshopper; it was squirming in my mouth trying to stay alive.”

Fashion Show. Ask mothers and daughters to come up front or onto the stage as you call their names four at a time. The narrator reads the script written by the mothers and daughters. If time, the narrator could give fashion tips.

Fashion Cookie Decorating. Have mothers and daughters gather around the cookie-decorating table to decorate their fashion-shaped cookies.
