Sunbeam Lesson 27:
We Can Pray As a Family

Use for: Primary Lesson, Family Home Evening, Sharing Time

Click the following to find Sunbeam Lesson 27  – We Can Pray As a Family I the Primary 1 manual.

OBJECTIVE: Tell children that family prayer helps us stay close to each other and to Heavenly Father. The Savior said that if we pray with our families in His name, our family will be blessed (3 Nephi 18:21). Praying together invites the Holy Ghost to guide us, and we can grow closer to Heavenly Father as we pray and receive guidance and protection.

CRAFT ACTIVITY – Heart-to-Heart Family Prayer Chart
1. Print or copy activity. Cut slits in day pockets (lines above days). Count the number of people in child’s family and cut out and paper-punch a heart for each family member. Write the child’s name on one of the hearts. Punch a hole to the left of chart. Before punching a hole, put a piece of tape behind the designated location to prevent tearing once the strings are attached. Tie a string to each heart (one for each member of the child’s family). Tie strings to chart. Show children how to place their heart/name in their assigned day pocket.
2. Children can place family names on the hearts. Then during the week, from Monday to Sunday, they can place family-hearts in the day’s pocket to show who is giving the family prayer. Talk about the happy feelings we have when we pray together. Show children how to have a family prayer.
