Sunbeam Lesson 37:
I Can Be Honest

Use for: Primary Lesson, Family Home Evening, Sharing Time

Click the following to find Sunbeam Lesson 37 – I Can Be Honest in the Primary 1 manual.

OBJECTIVE: Help strengthen each child’s desire to be honest.

CRAFT ACTIVITY – I Can Be Honest – Stripling Warrior Headband
1. Print or copy the activity. Glue warriors on headband left and right where indicated. Fit headband to child’s forehead and tape together.
2. This headband will remind children that they can be honest like the stripling warriors. Tell the story found in Alma 53:16–22 and 56:45–57, especially Alma 53:20–21. These men were protected in battle because they were honest. They had faith and courage to do what is right. Children can wear headbands and march around the room pretending to be righteous warriors, proud and happy that they are honest.

THOUGHT TREAT: Chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies. Place cookies inside a cookie jar and have children say, “May I have a cookie from the cookie jar?” Or, “May I have a cookie please?” Talk about the stripling warriors. They loved their mothers and were honest. We too can be honest and ask for things, like cookies from the cookie jar, rather than just taking them.

SINGING for Sunbeam Lesson 37 – I Can Be Honest: Sing “Fun to Do” (Children’s Songbook, 253). For fun visuals, go to the same song in the Super Little Singers book (34) or CD-ROM. Children can use the action cards to get started, then sing, “Being honest is fun to do” or “Telling the truth is fun to do.”
