Portrait of a Prophet ancient & modern posters
OBJECTIVE: Help children learn about the different prophets, ancient and modern (in the latter-days) who are sent to teach us the gospel of Jesus Christ and their apostles who also guide us.
ACTIVITY: Make a Prophet Poster
Children can add a face, hair, and clothing to create a prophet from the Old Testament, Book of Mormon, or a modern-day prophet. Prophets might be Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Samuel, Jonah, Daniel, Lehi, Nephi, Joseph Smith or the living prophet.
Have children tell what they know about the prophet they create. Note: Children used the mustache for the Latter-day prophet’s hair instead of the grey hair.
TO MAKE: Print or copy, color, and cut out the activity.
THOUGHT TREAT: Prophet Face Sugar Cookie.
Treasure Hunt: Hide one set of prophet poster pieces with a clue on the back of each piece, leading children to the treasure (Church magazine where the chosen prophet’s message is found).

A LITTLE EXTRA: Shown here is a ward member a teacher asked to play the part of King Benjamin (as requested at the beginning of this lesson 8). The children loved having their photos taken with this man, as a celebrity would. Also printed for this lesson was King Benjamin “Who Am I” script and picture of King Benjamin.
