Compassion like Jesus wheel
“I can show love and compassion like Jesus when He healed the sick.” 1 John 3:18
OBJECTIVE: The lesson helps youth desire to show love and compassion like Jesus.
ACTIVITY: Compassion Wheel
(compassion wheel subjects): Visit the sick, Cheer up the sad, Help your parents, Welcome a friend, Share a smile, and Say “I love you!”
Help youth learn how to show love and compassion as Jesus did when He healed the sick. Have them draw pictures in the blank circles of things they can do to show love and compassion. Or, they could write compassion goals. Read 1 John 3:18 to learn how to show love and compassion as Jesus did when He was kind to the children and healed the sick.
TO MAKE: Cut out the Compassion Wheel parts A and B. Attach part A on top of part B with a metal paper fastener/brad or button brad in the center. To make a button brad, sew two buttons together on opposite sides (threading thread through the same hole in the papers) to attach compassion wheels.
THOUGHT TREAT: Heart-shaped pan–wich. Reduce the amount of water in pancake batter by 1 teaspoon and add ½ teaspoon of red food coloring. Make two 4″ heart-shaped pancakes for each child. Then spread strawberry or raspberry jam in between two layers. Remind children as they eat, that Jesus loves them and wants them to love and show compassion toward others.
