Discuss 1 John 4:14. Study the outline for Jesus Christ is our Savior and talk briefly about: (1) I can gain a testimony of Jesus Christ. (2) Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can repent and be forgiven of my sins. (3) Jesus Christ was resurrected, and I will be too. (4) I can show respect for the Savior by being reverent and obeying God’s commandments.

YOUR SALVATION – THREE-ACT PLAY: Your Salvation Story. “Our lives are like a three-act play: premortal life (before we came to earth), mortal life (our time here on earth), and postmortal life (where we go after we die).”

The Savior can save us if we do Our Part – Act 1, 2 and 3. You will want to read Boyd K. Packard, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, talk: “The Play and the Plan”. He says that the plan of redemption is in three divisions where Act I is our first estate, Act II from birth to resurrection is our second estate, and Act III is life after death and eternal life. He says that because the veil keeps us from remembering Act I we may be confused as to how Act II should be played. Here you are subjected to trials and temptations and perhaps tragedy.

We can better resist despair if we learn and play our part. He says, “You were born in innocence, for ‘every spirit of man was innocent in the beginning’ (D&C 93:33). And you have an inborn sense of right and wrong, for the scriptures tell us in the Book of Mormon, we ‘are instructed sufficiently that [we] know good from evil.’ (2 Nephi 2:5)”

As we struggle to find the full plan of happiness in this life, we must look to our Savior who made it all possible for us to repent and prepare for Act III.

Ponder Alma 34:32-34 – “This life is the time for men to prepare to meet God . . . perform labors . . . do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end . . . then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.” WARNING: Do not put off repentance as “that same spirit which doth possess your bodies . . . that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.”
