Wise Man “Built His House Upon a Rock” (Testimony Building Project)

Instead of building your house upon sand to be washed away, build your house upon rock like the wise man. Your house will not fall if you build it upon the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the rock, our sure foundation. By building our house upon the rock we will be able to withstand “winds of the devil” and destruction. Read 3 Nephi 11:40, Matthew 7:24-27, and Helaman 5:12.

1. Print, color, and cut out the house and rock pieces.

Step 1: Build Your Foundation: Post the rocks on a door or wall. Then write on each rock a gospel principle you will obey and make a specific goal for each (see ideas below).
Step 2: Strengthen Your Foundation: Learn about and live each of the gospel principles you have chosen.
Step 3: Build Upon the Rock: For each gospel principle you have lived, add to the visual, building your sure foundation.

*Gospel Principles and Testimony Builders: FAITH, FASTING, FORGIVENESS, HONORING PARENTS, HONESTY, MISSIONARY WORK, MODEST DRESS, OBEDIENCE, REPENTANCE, REVELATION, REVERENCE, HONORING SABBATH, SACRAMENT, SCRIPTURES, SERVICE, TITHING, WORD OF WISDOM, OBEDIENCE, PRAYER

Remove tray, then give each girl a pencil and paper to write what they saw on the tray. Try to write the word “TESTIMONY.” Award a treat to everyone, but a double treat to those who spelled the word. Treat Ideas: dyed, hard-boiled egg, orange, nuts.
Activity 2: If you don’t have much time, simply have girls write “TESTIMONY” by placing treats in order, e.g., toast first and egg second.
