ACTIVITY: FHE Poster Presentation: Sabbath Day Scavenger Hunt
Help young women create this family home evening poster presentation they can share with children. They can tell children, “Our family can be strong as we keep the Sabbath day holy. Let’s have a ‘Sabbath Day’ Scavenger Hunt to learn ways we can keep the Sabbath day holy.”
1. Tape visuals on the far left of the chalkboard or on a wall, or tape visuals under chairs ahead of time. Provide a space on the board to post visuals.
2. From the Scavenger-Hunt Clues page, call out two items at a time and have two children find them, saying, for example, “I need the temple and a pair of shoes” (shown below). Then have them tell how each item can help them keep the Sabbath day holy. Ideas are found on the Scavenger-Hunt Clues page.
SOON YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD THIS ACTIVITY.
TO MAKE: Print activity in color or black and white on cardstock. Laminate.
TESTIMONY SHARING: The following week ask young women to share their testimony on the following. Click on the following website objective to introduce the testimony sharing (that follows): Why are we commanded to keep the Sabbath day holy? “The Lord has given the Sabbath day for our benefit and has commanded us to keep it holy. Observing the Sabbath shows our commitment to honor and worship God and keep our covenants. It will bring us closer to the Lord and to our family. It will give us an eternal perspective and spiritual strength. The Sabbath also allows us to rest from our physical labors and worship the Lord.”
