OBJECTIVE:
Help each child understand that Jesus Christ is Heavenly Father’s Son, born in a manger.

POSTER ACTIVITY – Jesus and Heavenly Father Poster
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about poster, saying, “Jesus Christ is Heavenly Father’s Son.” Jesus loves Heavenly Father and obeys Him just like we obey our parents. We love Jesus and Heavenly Father.
• Say, “As a baby, Jesus was born to an earthly mother, Mary, yet He was Heavenly Father’s real Son. In the manger where He lay, you could find a cow, donkey, and sheep. Shepherds came to see Him, and wise men brought Him gifts. Many had waited a long time for Jesus to come.”

• Say, “As a 12-year-old boy, Jesus was found teaching the wise men in the temple. They listened to the stories of Jesus. We can listen as our parents and teachers tell us the stories of Jesus. We can be kind to others and help those in need like Jesus did.”
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Tell me the stories about when Jesus was a little baby and what He did when He was a young boy. Show me how to be like Jesus.”

THOUGHT TREAT: Follow-that-star cookie. Make sugar cookie dough and cut into star shapes, then bake and frost. Tell children that a new star shown bright over the manger that special night to tell the shepherds and wise men where to find the baby Jesus.
