Nursery Lesson 28 – Heavenly Father Blesses Me through the Priesthood in the Behold Your Little Ones manual.
OBJECTIVE: Tell children that all members of the Church can benefit from the blessings of the priesthood. The priesthood is the power and authority of God given to worthy men ages 12 and older to act in God’s name. Talk about how someone who holds the priesthood of God gives blessings. Many blessings are given by the laying on of hands by those in authority from God. To give these blessings they must hold the Aaronic or Melchizedek priesthood. See Activity 1 (#2) below to know of blessings given.
POSTER ACTIVITY – Priesthood Blessings Poster
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “Priesthood blessings bless our lives in many ways. Can you remember any of these blessings?” Read the poster as you point to the images: baby blessing, sacrament, baptism, confirmation to receive the Holy Ghost, and blessings given when a child is sick.
Ask the child to talk about these blessings and someone they love who has received one. Talk about how after a baby has been given a name, they are given a special priesthood blessing, promises of health and happiness.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Help me understand how the priesthood has already blessed my life, like my baby blessing, the sacrament, a special blessing, blessing me when I’m sick, and more.
THOUGHT TREAT: Babyface cookie. Frost a round cookie with a smiley face. Tell children that right from the beginning when you have your baby face, you can be blessed with priesthood blessings.
