Nursery Lesson 17: I Will Share

OBJECTIVE: Tell children that if we follow Jesus, we are willing to share our blessings with others who are in need. Sharing is a way of thanking Heavenly Father for our blessings.
POSTER ACTIVITY – “Bee” a Friend Poster
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “I can be a friend! Jesus is our loving friend.”
• “How many friends do you have? Can you count them?” (See “Thought Treat” below.)
• “How do they know they are your friend?” (Have children tell you the kind things they do for their friends, like Jesus when He gathered the children around Him.)
3. Talk about the Home Activity at the bottom of the poster. Rehearse saying please and thank you. HOME ACTIVITY: Let’s name all my friends! Then help me to be kind to my friends at church and at home Help me to share and say please and thank you.
THOUGHT TREAT: Friendship Bracelets. String colored cereal to make a bracelet, telling children: “As you count each color in the bracelet, name your friends one by one: mother, father, brother, sister, grandma, grandpa, teacher, neighbor, nursery friends.”
SINGING for I Will Share Nursery Lesson 17:
. Sing “Jesus Said Love Everyone” and “Fun to Do” (Children’s Songbook, 61, 253). Children can use the action cards to show ways they can be a friend (imitate them in the song above).
. You can also sing “Do As I’m Doing” (Children’s Songbook, 276). Replace the words “Do as I’m doing” to “Be a good friend,” and have children do actions like smiling, saying hi, waving, and helping. Children can play Follow the Leader.
